Kanaya Maryam is a mutant; her blood is so nauseatingly red it can be likened only to the color of candy. Predictably, this meant that at the beginning of Red Dead Virgo (and their time in Animus), Equius hated her guts. But the two of them hid and died together in Hitori Kakurenbo (he began choking up candy-red acid, she was killed by a culling drone) and from then on in, they were kind of destined to meet each other a lot, and argue like wigglers every time. It's probably about time the two of them grow up and start treating each other more civilly, but neither seems willing to accept that yet. And whenever they think they do, the other inevitably pisses them off and they turn right back into wigglers again. Part of the Movie Night group as of "Thirteen Ghosts".
Oh god, Eridan. The two were on speaking terms before the being taken to the tower; they were aware and alright with one another's presence, but never really spoke much. Soon after the Tower happened, however, Eridan somehow dropped in with him as the only person in the tower who wasn't completely horrifying (by virtue of being A. someone he knows and B. not an asshole). Perfectly okay to cling to any life support in the dire lack of a moirail, fate kind of brought them together in an awkward way... and again... and again. And now they're just kind of an indecipherable slurry of feels confusion in the caliber that would require a National Treasure film to sort out. These two were the ones who started Movie Night, but Eridan started inviting a few people and it kind of snowballed.
On Alternia, Karkat was Equius' hemospectral superior, so he tended not to engage in conversation unless he absolutely had to. This relationship hasn't much improved in the Tower; Equius is still afraid of him, as he is wont to do with those above him, and they've really only spoken to one another in group settings where Karkat is too busy whining and Equius finds himself unable to get a word in. One of the first people invited to Movie Night.
A frankly weird kid who's chums with Jade Strider, and one that Equius didn't know too well before the Tower happened due to his... interesting policy on interaction with the kids. The sheer power of David's lineface is more than slightly intimidating, he has since learned, but when not pretending to be an emotionless husk, they actually get on fairly well... as long as Equius keeps bribing him with mind honey cookies, that is. Part of the Movie Night group as of "Thirteen Ghosts".
Back in canon, Equius generally didn't interact with the kids very much (John set a bad example). Now that they're in the Tower, Equius and Jade have gotten the opportunity to interact several times. He's willing to give her more of a chance now, since she is apparently good friends with a certain jadeblood who shall not be named, among other reasons. But she seems strong and reliable, even if her name sometimes leaves a bitter taste in his mouth for debunking his hemospectrum babble. Part of the Movie Night group as of "Thirteen Ghosts".
Good God, Nepeta! Where to begin on Nepeta? Well, first of all, she's Equius' moirail, and a more opposite troll the world has never seen. Short, cute Empress-to-be, with a heavy dislike for hemospectrum discrimination, it probably amazes some people that they could ever get along at all. But they do. They're probably the most sane, functional moirails Red Dead Virgo has to offer. Equius admires her a bit too much for his own good, but also cares for her deeply, and the number-one guaranteed way to get a rise out of him is to threaten her. She was present in the tower for a little while before, but they didn't get to talk much, and the first Nepeta left right after an argument; this led Equius to believe that she had gone off to challenge the administration and failed. The second Nepeta could not have arrived at a better time, and he is hugely thankful for her presence.
